Wish I was there...

Wednesday, October 05, 2005

This time last year...Ian and I were getting off of the cruise ship in Honalulu, HI. We walked off the pier and asked the first cab driver we saw to take us to the State Health building. He laughed at us and said "you're kidding right?"
"No....? We need to go get a marraige licence." We said, as we are both glowing in excitement, not only because we are going to get our marraige licence but we are in freakin' Hawaii!!!

So the cabby proceeds to tell us that the State Health building is only about a block away. LOL oppps. Thus began our jouney together.
When we got to the building, the office wasn't even open yet! We walked in the lobby and the security gaurd says, "Marraige licence? Right there..." (points to a door) Ian and I were the only ones there. About 2-3 minutes go by and another excited couple walks in...

Finally the door opens and there were 2 ladies working there so both couples got to go in right away. The whole process took maybe 10 minutes...that's including our wait for them to open!

So as we're leaving the Health building we notice that it was only like 8:35a.m. We then realize that we might still be able to make it to the excursion we wanted to do ("Diving with the Sharks") that leaves from the pier at 9am. We rush back to the boat and find the events coordinator. The trip was booked, but they told us we could wait around to make sure there wasn't any empty seats. So we wait.....and wait.....Score! We got in!

We went to the aquatic (Sp?) park. It was awesome!! The park that we went to was the same one that Adam Sandler worked in in the movie 50 First Dates. We got to swim in an aquarium with all the fish, a sea turtle, a hammerhead shark, and some rays. What an experience!! Then we got to pet the dolphins!! I loved it there!

Anyway, just looking back...I want to spend this week remembering the week leading up to our wedding and reliving each moment. I'll be posting pics all week from our Hawaii trip and wedding...stay tuned.

I'll add the pictures for today, tonight when I get home.

Update: We heard from Frankie last night. He is ok. Everyone is ok. He said it's not quite as bad as the news was making out to be ( I find that hard to believe) There is no water and no electricity...sounds pretty bad to me... "Lots of cheap land for sale though" (Frank's words)
So his phone has been all f'ed up and he's not getting all his messages but he sends his thanks to all who kept him in their thoughts and his reassurance that all is ok.
