I'm the big brother
Friday, June 17, 2005
For those of you who don't know us, here's some history. Scott is Ian's son from his first marrage. He lives with his mom in NY and comes to stay with us on weekends and in the summer for 3 weeks. He is the joy in our lives! Probably the most incredible 10 year old i've ever had the pleasure of knowing. We all have the best relationship, at least I think so. I'm not only his step-mom, and Ian's not just his dad, but we're all good friends with total trust. There's nothing we can't all talk about and there are no secrets. Scott was the first to know about the new baby. His new favorite line is "the baby told me to, hehehe" "Hey Kari, the baby told me that you should buy me this..." "Ummmm, I think the baby wants ice cream, I think we should go" I think he's having a lot of fun with the whole idea of being a big brother, he even waved and said, "bye baby!" when he was leaving on Sunday. It was the cutest thing, I'll tell you that kid really knows how to warm my heart!
My niece and nephew come to stay with us some weekends too(they are 31/2 and 2) and Scott is nothing but amazing with them. I know he will make an awesome big brother.

Here's your photo...
Ian is very brave to request his photo be on the blog. I have some very incriminating photos to choose from, but since I'm feeling nice I'll keep it clean and use some family shots. In honor of Father's Day, here's daddy Ian!

Today was totally back to normal. No nausea, no cramps, no spotting...no worries. Finally, afer almost two weeks of wondering and worrying I feel 100% back to normal. But still very cautious, no lifting or anything strenuous. At least until we pass the 3 month mark.
We received our first baby gift today. Thanks Aunt Julie, Uncle Keith and Emmy! It is very exciting getting baby stuff instead of buying it for someone else. I guess I should start cleaning out my computer room soon, since that will be the new baby's room. I'd rather make Scott's room the baby's because it's bigger and we could have a rocker and everything in there too. Scott's not ready to go for that, and I would never ask him to give up his room for the baby. We might be able to fit a rocker and crib and everything in the computer room once I get all my crap out of there. I have a tendency to keep everything! I don't know why, I just don't want to get rid of anything, I always think...what if...? What if I need that again? What if this comes back in style? What if I just want to remember that? I guess I'll have to give up some stuff, since I'm sure the baby will have a lot of stuff as well. I saw this thing at Home Depot, it's like one of those customized closet organizers that turns the closet into almost like a dresser, I guess it's kind of hard to explain, but I really liked that idea for the baby's room, that would eliminate the need for a dresser in the room.
For those of you who have inquired about the puppies. Only the male is left, adn we are selling them for $150. They are purebred but have no papers. He'll be 6 weeks on Saturday, and I'm amking the appointment for their shots next week. So first come first serve for Boo. His sisters will be going home either the day they get thier shots or the day after.
Well I guess that's it for today...until tomorrow!

Back to work
So today was back to work for Ian and I.I know that you're not supposed to tell anyone until after you are 3 months, but obviously we just couldn't wait. We both decided to tell everyone at work today. It's so awesome to have so many people happy for you. It felt great.
I might be changing the date of the ultrasound so I'll keep you updated. Ian and I are both taking 3 day weekends for the 4th so it will be hard to get out the 5th too for the dr. appt.
Well, I've been at work since 5am and we're going out to a baseball game tonight so I'm gonna try and sneek a nap in before we go, but first I have to go take care of the puppies (aka poop machines!) (Yuck!) I'm not sure if we'll be doing the breeding thing again, especially with a baby in the house. I'll try to post some new puppy pics later.

Names
Ok so my middle name is Lee and my mother's middle name is Lee, so if we have a girl her middle name will be Lee too. My first choice for a girl was Madison Lee...that was until two of our friends named their daughters Madison. Thanks:( So then a second choice was Mackenzie Lee but that is what my best friend has claimed for her daughter...if she has one. Normally I would just say too badI was pregnant first, but since she is choosing the middle name after me and since I've been through that with the Madison ordeal, I've decided to cross out Mackezie as an option. So here's what we have so far:
GirlsAllison (My new 1st choice) Kimber (Ian's 1st choice) Amber Jordan Kendal Samantha BreannaSummerBoys
Zachary KeithBailey ScottRyan (Timothy?)Garrett MichaelNathaniel ScottCarterJohn MichaelIf it's a boy I want it to have a middle name of someone in the family. Zachary and Bailey are the top 2 right now for boy names. I'm sure it will all change many times in the next 36 weeks!

Valentine
Tuesday, June 14, 2005
So today was the big day, our Dr. visit and pregnancy test. But first, let me catch you up on last night. I woke up at 11:50pm sweating like crazy and in incredible pain. I had the worst cramps ever! So as I continue to freak out I go to the bathroom and I'm having this weird spotting, but it's not really blood. So as I'm freaking out, pacing the house trying to get rid of the pain I decide to stand in front of the fan to at least stop the sweating. Then I lay on the floor in front of the fan in our room and poof the pain is gone. Just like that!
So I wake up this morning and immediately go to the internet to figure out what is going on. And here we go, apparently the spotting is due to the egg implanting it's self in the uterus wall and eating away at it to stick it's self there. FEEEWWW! Ok so now the freaking has stopped! Thank God!
So Ian and I go to the Dr. (Very awkward for him, with nothing but women in the entire building). I pee in the cup and guess what! I'm pregnant!!! (It feels great to here someone in a white coat say that.) So we are looking at about 5 weeks. My due date is Feb. 14th...Valentine's Day. How exciting! My next appointment is Tuesday, and then my ultrasound will be Tuesday July 5th. I CANNOT wait for the ultrasound!!
Ok so that's it for tonight, back to reading more baby stuff and talking about names...I'll post a list of what we've discussed for names later.

ok,ok I'm here.
So, for those of you who don't already know...I'm pregnant!! This is a good thing. A planned thing. So this blog is to keep you all updated on the day to day business with the baby/pregnancy, and just life in general. We found out Saturday that I was indeed pregnant. However, somehow my sister-in-law has known for 2 weeks now. She was telling me to take a home test over a week ago and I thought she was crazy. I wasn't due for the female deal until Tuesday...but I was going to be leaving town Wednesday morning and wouldn't be back until Fri. night. So, we decided that if I didn't get it by Tuesday night I would take a test. Test #1- negative...we think....so now we wait until Friday. Come Friday there's still no period sooo, test#2-ummm...is that 1 line or 2? Ok Saturday morning...test#3-well I think it's 2 lines....Ok enough guessing. Now I go out and buy the "Pregnant" "Not Pregnant" digital test. Haha, this one can't fool us! Test#4- One minute later and tada! Pregnant! With many OMG'eds and hugs and kisses, we both begin dialing...calling all of our family members. So that's how it went down. Then this morning I just about had a nervous break down because I thought I was getting my period. Then I was fine all day, and Ian made me test again when we got home....still "Pregnant"ok so now I'm calmed down a bit but still freaking a little. We're going to the doctor tomorrow and wil hopefully get an answer 100%. So, until tomorrow....
