Wednesday through Friday

Saturday, August 27, 2005

We were in Oregon. Our trip turned out way better than either of us had expected! We saw Mt. St. Helen's from the plane flying in. You could see steam coming from the top of it as it is still perkilating and an active volcano! We had a car service at the airport to pick us up in a decked out Lincoln Navigator, they took us to our beautiful hotel at the 5th Avenue Suites in downtown Portland. Then to the Portland City Grill, which is in a high rise building with The most amazing views! The perimiter of the restaurant is all glass windows and you can see mt. St. Helen's and I think it was Mt. Hood or Mt. Reinier and the whole city, it was breath taking! We ate an amazing lunch for free and then drove around the Nike campus and headed to the Nike employee store where they hooked us up with amazing gifts and we loaded up on a bunch of stuff!

After all that we skipped our dinner reservations and headed back to the hotel to unwind and then went out on the city to explore. We got a few drinks and some appetizers then went back to get some rest.

Thursday, we took the car service back to campus and had the grand tour, it was absolutely beautiful! I think we might have to move to Oregon and work there forever! Ian and I were blown away and left in envy of all who worked there on a daily basis. We played some raquet ball and basketball in the Bo Jackson facility and then headed to a restuarant on campus for lunch. After lunch we headed back to the city and walked around checking out some of the shops. We were picked up @ 5 pm for a dinner resercation at Henry's 12th Street Tavern, again amazing food, and a great time. After dinner, we went to a Beaver's Game (Baseball), all expense paid...Then back to Henry's for drinks and Ian and I hit a few more bars by the hotel before calling it a night.

Friday morning we relaxed and laid in bed wishing we didn't have to leave. It was nice to be spoiled for a few days. We went out on the city, grabbed some coffee and walked back to the fountain to take some pics. Then we hit the Niketown shop and did a little shopping. Then it was back to the hotel to finish packing and the car service swept us away to the airport.

Now we're home. Depressed that vacation is just about over, and I am leaving early Monday morning to go to the Cape for work and won't see Ian for 4 days! This sucks! Why can't vacations last forever?

I know I've been tagged by a few of you, but I really don't have time to do it tonight. I'll try to do it tomorrow, if not then definately Monday, since I'll be in a lonly hotel room with nothing but my blog:( Until then...

Tuesday

We went out to visit Ian's parents and the boys played around on their new 4 wheelers, we went out on the trails and hit some pretty cool jumps and such.
Oh yeah, did I mention that Ian bought a new 4 wheeler? That puts him up to 4 total, one is Scott's and 2 are broken! He brough the racing one to my brothers house to see if maybe he can fix it or at least getting running again, the other green one Ian's dad broke in a drunken stuper about a month ago, we still haven't got it fixed. We just spent $500 on the racing one that still doesn't work! Now we have to bring the other one in and get that fixed too, and he just up and bought a new one! I don't know how he thinks we can afford this. Maybe I should let him start doing the bills?

Well, I have the pictures of them doing jumps but they're on the other computer. I think i uploaded a couple on my flicker so you can check them out there.

Monday

Sunday nigth we decided to stick around and stay in NY until Tuesday night when Scott had to go backl to his mom's. Monday, we got together with my brother, SIL and my niece and nephew and decided to take a trip to Animal Land to have some fun with the kids and feed some animals. We had a great time! We got to feed monkeys, goats, donkeys, zebras, giraffes, kangaroos, all kinds of animals! The kids went on pony rides, played on the play grounds, and we saw a pig race. Ian's first pig race ever actually! It was great, they had the slow fat pot-bellied pigs, then they had some really fast pigs and then they brought out he little tiny baby pigs that were just adorable! they ran around like crazy and kept escaping because they were so small that they could fit through the fencing! It was hilarious and a lot of fun. Ian was thrilled to feed the monkey's out of his hand. They were in a cage and then there was a big fence around the cage but the younger ones could fit through the cage and get out and would come right up to the fence i you stuck your hand through with some food. They ate it right off his hand, it was so cool.

We were supposed to go on a safari ride too but the pig races ran late and we wern't quick enough to make it back in time for the ride, and we didn't want to wait an hour for the next trip, so we'll have to go back again some other time and catch it. Here are some pics from the Animal Land.

Sunday

We packed up the truck and headed up to NY for my nephew's birthday party. He's turning 4 this year! I can't believe it. I can remember the day I found out my SIL was pregnant, the day he was born, the day he came home from the hospital, everything! I love this kid! So for his 4th birthday he got a new 4 wheeler, and not one of those power wheels, battery operated ones (I bought him that for his first birthday) He got the real deal, gas powered, I'm a big boy 4 wheeler! And he does awesome on it! I couldn't believe it.

So we spent the day in NY at my brother's house catching up on some family time and playing with the kids. Ian and I had a blast. We miss the kids so much so any family time is the best time for us, I wish we could see them everyday. Here are some pictures from the day...

Vacation...

So vacation officially started for me Friday at 3pm. I drove to NY to pick up Scott and we drove home. Saturday, we went and dropped off the dogs at the kennel and then Scott and I went out school shopping. Saturday night Xander came to visit and had his first sleep over. I had a blast! Ian, Scott Xander and I all went out shopping, rented a movie and picked up some pizza. We had a great night. I soaked up every minute of having a newborn baby in the house. Ian was even good, wanting to chip in and help out.
I loved having Xander here, although it did make me wonder how all you sleep deprived mothers make it. Xander and I were up every 2 hours to eat, I loved it but I think at about 4am I was wondering how anyone could do this on a daily basis. I knew it was only one night so it was no problem.
Here's a picture of Alexander hanging out, laying on the ottoman, talking to Aunt Kari.

p.s. Michele is back to work and is working on keeping
Xander's page updated on a daily basis. I know she would love some comments and advice and just some ideas so stop on over and say hi.

Too much to blog...

Tuesday, August 23, 2005

Our vacation offically started on Sunday. We went to NY for my nephew's 4th birthday party. It was great! It's always fun to spend time with family. Ian and I miss the kids so much so it was great to have a day of fun with them. We decided to stay until Tuesday night so we crashed at my parents house and spent monday with my brother and sister in law and the kids. We just got home tonight and are trying to pack for our flight to Oregon tomorrow. Our flight leaves at 7 am so we have to leave the house by 5am! Yikes! I better get moving...I'll write more about our trip to NY w/family and add some pics when we get back. I'll have to catch up with everyone else then too. I know that there's a lot going on in everyones lives right now so I promise I will catch up on reading when I get back, or maybe get some in at the hotel when we get there. Until then I wish you all well and I'll be back soon...
